The Summer of 2009 holds many amazing memories for fans at Del Mar. Whether you came out for the horses, the music, the fashion or the social scene, there was something here for everyone. Take a look at Opening Day for instance, not only did we have record breaking attendance 44,907 but the celebrities, hats and horses were out in full force! Starting that first Friday was the infamous Del Mar Summer Concert Series with great performers including G Love and Special Sauce, Airborne Toxic Event, The Wailers and many more.

This year Del Mar started a new Diamond Club promotion, Free and Easy Wednesday, you could tell by the huge increase in Wednesdays' crowds that it was an overwhelming success, and really who doesn't love 1/2 price hot dogs, sodas and beers. The Summer Concert Series continued with Saturday infield concerts including big names such as the Flaming Lips and Steel Pulse. And as part of many of these Saturday concerts were Beer Fests and even a Chili Cook Off. Other notables: Early Morning Donut Days bringing out some of the youngest horse fans, long sleeved tee giveaway, beach bag coolers and Pony Boy Plush toy's for the youngsters. Peb created a new mural for the track and even came out to sign autographs. As you can see it was a pretty busy race meet.

The season came to a close with none other than the Pacifc Classic Racing Festival, with the $1,000,000 stakes race on Sunday followed by Ziggy Marley in the infield as part of the Roots Rock and Reggae Fest. And the final Wednesday of the season, closing day, brought the Party in the Paddock with a performance by the English Beat.

Thank you to everyone who came out and really made this a season to never forget!!
