A grand tradition on Opening Day at Del Mar is the One and Only Truly Fabulous Hats contest.
While fierce competitors spend weeks and months designing their masterpieces, all race fan beauties-- young and old -- are encouraged to wear a little (and sometimes big) something to accent their outfit.
The contest is divided into four catgories: Most Glamorous, Best Fresh Flowers, Best Racing Theme and Funniest/Most Outrageous. First place winners from each category are entered into the grand prize judging.
And after Opening Day and the Only and Only Truly Fabulous Hats contest have passed, racegoers still wear beautiful hats all season long.
