Ben Harper
When: Saturday, August 18th, 2012 at 7pm
Come celebrate the Del Mar Racetrack’s 75th anniversary by sampling many different malt suds during the Beer Fest beginning at 1:00 pm. Ben Harper will be rockin’ the Seaside Stage following the last race.
His guitar-playing skills, vocals, and on stage performances have captivated the eyes and ears of people all over the world. His fan base spans from the United States, to Austrailia, to Europe, where French Rolling Stone named Harper 2003’s Artist of the Year. The root of Harper’s worldwide success comes from his eclectic music style stemming from folk, blues, hard rock, country, jazz and reggae. This versatility allows him to reach out to all ages and types of audiences. In the late 1990’s Harper’s career took off with two radio hit songs “Steel My Kisses” and “Suzie Blue.” The popularity of these two songs landed him two headlining world tours as well as a spot opening up for the famous Dave Mathews Band in 2000. Harper is also an activist who has collaborated with other artists and social action events to advocate against the expansion of nuclear power and to encourage voting for the Presidential election in 2004.
All 12 performances of the Del Mar Summer Concert Series are free for fans attending the races. The Seaside Stage is a non-smoking venue. Our Saturday shows are 18-years of age and up ONLY. Following the last race, concert prices are $20. The Del Mar Seaside Stage is a Festival venue with standing room only so get here early. Concert starts after the races.
