Jimmy Cliff
When: Friday, August 24th, 2012 at 7pm
Jimmy Cliff’s talent took Jamaica’s reggae and ska music to all corners of the world at an early age. Cliff remains one of Jamaica’s greatest living ambassadors as he was given the prestigious opportunity of representing the country at the World’s Fair in New York in 1964. Cliff exposed the world to reggae music in 1972 with the release of The Harder They Come, a soundtrack for the film which he also starred in. The film is now marking its milestone, signifying the accomplishment of a successful career for the now-elder reggae pioneer. With an impressive career spanning nearly 50 years now, Cliff continues to produce new, energetic music that conveys a strong message of power and conscience. Currently, Cliff has teamed up with producer Tim Armstrong (the Rancid front man) to produce a new album. The album will contain fresh versions of Cliff originals along with a couple of hand-picked covers by this promising team.
