Cougars on the Prowl at Del Mar

Del Mar Racetrack hosts the Cougar II Handicap, and crowns Miss Cougar Del Mar
WHAT:
One of Del Mar’s stakes races and the longest in distance of the entire meet, the Cougar II Handicap will run August 5, 2009. Named after the famed horse, Cougar II, Del Mar won’t hide that the seaside track is known for attracting cougars of all kinds. The mature ladies on the prowl have come to be a staple element of Del Mar’s charm so this year, in honor of the Cougar II Handicap, Del Mar will recognize those iconic cougars by crowning the Miss Cougar Del Mar of 2009.
Starting Thursday, July 30, self-proclaimed cougars can submit their best cougar photo online with a one sentence explanation as to why she should be crowned Miss Cougar Del Mar 2009. Contact information should also be included. The winner will be announced the morning of the Cougar II Handicap on August 5 and invited to present the Cougar II Handicap trophy that afternoon. In addition, the winner will receive a free table for four to enjoy the races and free Airborne Toxic Event concert the following Friday, August 7.

• Submit your photos, explanation and contact information starting Thursday, July 30, 2009. • Miss Cougar Del Mar 2009 will be announced on http://www.delmarscene.com and on twitter (@DelMarRacing) on Wednesday, August 5, 2009. • The winner will be invited to present the trophy for the Cougar II Handicap and will receive a day at the races on Friday, August 7, 2009.
